Attack of the TV film riding on the wave of marketing geeks

Attack of the Gryphon, or rather Gryphon as it was originally known, was made for TV and appeared on the Sci-Fi Channel in early 2007. Sony then for some reason released it on DVD with the slightly different title of 'Attack of the Gryphon', which is strange if you consider that Eragon was just released slightly earlier - such a better movie on the same story lines of the fantasy kingdom and the mythical creature.
Its probably due to the marketing geeks rushing to flood the market with cheap low budget movies to ride the success. The film misses several opportunities: grand scenery (shot in Romania), three decent actors (Adrian Pintea, Amber Benson and Larry Drake) and the usual fantasy story plotline.
It used mediocre cgi in dark blurry fight scenes which got a bit lame and monotonous in places. If you could rise above all the 'not quite right stuff' and just let the waters envelope you you could drown quite contentedly in the film- Was this review helpful to you?
