Co-writer, producer and star Mike Myers doesn't take many risks with this enjoyable third outing for the groovy secret agent and his nemesis Dr Evil, sticking to his tried and tested formula of cool catch phrases, bad-taste buffoonery and surreal slapstick. He perhaps overstretches himself this time, taking on the additional role of eponymous Dutch villain Goldmember, and there's a distinct feeling of déjà vu about his comic shtick. But, despite the occasional lacklustre sequence, there are memorable contributions from the most colourful supporting cast of the series. Former Destiny's Child front woman Beyoncé Knowles is a knockout as sassy 1970s chick Foxxy Cleopatra, while Michael Caine is a dentally challenged delight as Austin's randy dad. Although the comedy peaks too early with a show-stopping film-within-a-film parody, director Jay Roach knows how to shoot a gag and the increased budget means this episode has a more vibrant, cinematic sheen than its predecessors. Myers fans may be disappointed by his personal below-par contribution, but when he does hit the target, the results are comedy gold.

  • Amiable spy spoof, though most of the jokes are of a rude and rudimentary kind; in the end, though, its childish glee wears you down.

I am from Holland, isn't that vierd ?

I don't want to say the movie wasn't that good, but my expectations were not met. I’ve given the movie a 4, but I was expecting a little more. At times I was laughing so hard my sides hurt, but at other times I was left struggling to maintain interest. Mike Myers was great as Austin and Dr. Evil, and it would’ve been nice if Fat B*st*rd could have had a greater role. Goldmember should have stayed at home. Hopefully, we won’t see him if they make an AP4. The thing about this movie was there were slightly too many characters for a 90 minute movie. Beyonce Knowles was a little disappointing as Foxy Cleopatra by simply not fitting into a comedy role. Michael York is just plain Basil, Seth Green was not that good as Scott Evil as he was in the other two films. Michael Caine was pretty average as Austin's father and Verne Troyer as Mini-Me was perfect. The best part of the movie was the cameos. I don’t think ‘Goldmember’ is quite as good as the first two, but it is very good.

    Give It Up Austin

More of the same from the 60s-cool Bond spoof but I reckon there's less laughs than we've seen before. Part two was by far the funniest and although this one has it's moments you begin to feel the ideas are running out and you can clearly see some bits have been rehashed. Still I think it's worth a watch seeing Mike Myers play such a range of characters and he's ably assisted by the super-sexy Beyonce Knowles.

    Same jokes...

Shazam! Same old jokes... that said it's still class. If you liked the first two, then watch this. If you didn't then don't expect anything from this! And the Britney Spears fem-bot was genius. Look out for a few more Mike Myers "cameos"!

Austin Powers - The Spy who ran out of ideas

For those who have not 'HAD THE PLEASURE' of Austin Powers, you really should start with the first film and for fans who have enjoyed the first two as I have, no review will stop you watching Austins third outing, so enjoy the film and then read the review to see if you agree!

A passable way to spend a couple of hours, but for sure the weakest of the three films, this formulaic journey tried to cover so much of the old ground as well as getting through the third storey, that there was no time fully explore the situations to Mike Myers' full comic potential. The cameos at the start and end, whilst great in their own right, added to the disjointed and rushed effect of the film. I personally found Goldmember to be Mike's flakiest character in many many senses of the word. Seth did a great job leading Scott down the dark side of the farce indeed if you wanted a side order of corn with the review, it would be fair to say the performance slayed me. (sorry!) Mindy was as always my ideal older woman as the 'ever lovely in leather' leader of the militant wing of the Salvation Army. Sadly she did not have a lot to do save the essential comedy shouty german bit - always value! Beyonce was a hit - we should definately see more of her! Hopefully we will be treated to another outing with Austin once his Mojo has fully topped up.

    EXCELLENT! must see movie!

I saw the first film ' Austin Powers:

International Man Of Mystery' which i found to be rather dissapointing { however i was little then and many of the rude references/jokes were wasted on me.} however i have seen this movie the 3rd movie { which some say is the final but i'm not quite sure.} the film basically has Austin Powers { Mike Myers} take on Doctor Douglas ' Dougie' Evil { Mike Myers} who has plans to travel to 1975 and pick up gold loving mastermind: Goldmember{ Mike Myers} the spoof version of Goldfinger in ' 007: Goldfinger' { as some might have guessed.} Goldmember is hilarious and with him having his name on the title he really should have been in it more. the revolting character Fat B*******{ Mike Myers} should have been cut out and replaced with more of Goldmember. Beyonce Knowles does a better job of Foxy Cleoptra than some give her credit. Sir Michael Caine excells in the role of Austin Power's eccentric father{ who is loosly based on Mike Myer's dad.} this film truly is excellent with other regulars like Michael York's Basil Exposition, Verne Jay Troyer's Mini Me, Mindy Sterling's Frau Farbissina & Seth Green's Scott'Scottie' Evil son of Doctor Evil. with one unique twist at the end and some fun flashbacks featuring young teenagers playing Austin Powers, Doctor Evil, Number Two & Basil Exposition. it's the boy who plays Basil Exposition who is an uncanny impersonator of Michael York!, the others are really great mimics too though. all in all if you like rude, funny, musically stimulated films then this movie is right up your street. the bond spoofery is fab and takes the mick out of the submarine lair in ' The Spy Who Loved Me', Goldfinger's name in ' Goldfinger, pool of sharks scenario in ' Thunderball' & some pretty neat ' You Only Live Twice' ish sequences were sumo wrestling Fat******* + Mister Roboto and some IN japanese culture scenes which give this sci-fi/spy spoof/comedy/fantasy a bit of realizm with giant pokemons roaming the city of Tokyo. must see!

Cruder than the first two Austin Powers movies but still funny in parts. The music was excellent.
