If you liked the International Man of Mystery's first adventure, then you'll love this shagadelic sequel, in which Austin Powers (Mike Myers) goes back to the 1960s to reclaim his “mojo”, which has been stolen by his nemesis Dr Evil (also played by Myers). While the star and his returning director, Jay Roach, revisit the same free-for-all secret-agent spoofing of the original, they do it with just the right degree of retro style, knowing geniality and complete lack of taste and restraint. Heather Graham is an adequate replacement for Elizabeth Hurley as Powers's mini-skirted sidekick, and the result is a lava-lamp lampoon as stupid and (for Powers fans) as sophisticated as the first psychedelic excursion.

The mixture is much as before, though with a greater preponderance of fart jokes, and a few engagingly silly moments. This time around, audiences who had stayed away from the first Powers film flocked to see this one.

    Yeah baby yeah

I’ve just watched Austin II for about the tenth time and it’s still as good as the first. I like this movie more than the original. From start to finish, from the very first scene to the very last, I laughed harder than I almost ever have at any other movie. Some of the witticisms were taken from the original, but many were new and just as inventive.

Myers, as usual, is amazingly diverse, playing three characters this time; Austin, Dr. Evil, and Fat B*st*rd. The script is wonderfully written, and there is never a dull moment. Rob Lowe does a very good job as the young Number 2.

Heather Graham is amazing. Liz Hurley is one of the most beautiful women in the world, but Heather, with her sensual looks and actions, has her beat. Everytime she looked at Austin with that ' Lets go and Shag' look I found myself wanting to be the international man of mystery. Schwing

'Mini-me, we do not gnaw on the kitty.'

    Groovy

The horny, idiotic super-spy is back in his first adventure since his last. It has been two years since he last foiled Dr. Evil and he was now in the lap of luxury with his new wife, Vanessa. Only, Austin soon finds out she's a fembot. She nearly kills him, then self-destructs. Austin feels forlorn, for about a second, then realizes he's single again, so he strolls through the hotel lobby buck naked.

Meanwhile, Dr. Evil had also returned. He went on the Jerry Springer Show with his son Scott. Dr. Evil also had a clone made. He was exactly 1/8 his size. Dr. Evil names him Mini-Me. He has also concocted a brilliant plan for getting rid of Austin Powers. He developed a time machine and plans to go back to 1969 and steal Austin Power's mojo. So he travels back and arrives in his hollowed-out volcano lair. His henchmen, Number 2 and Frau Farbissina are there too, in younger form. Another henchman of Evil's was currently stealing the frozen Austin Powers' mojo: a portly Scotsman that weighs one metric ton. His name: Fat B*stard.

Austin realizes his mojo is gone, so he too travels back to 1969, where he meets Felicity Shagwell and the two go off to fight Dr. Evil together; Dr. Evil has turned the moon into a 'death star'. He planned to go there and use a giant 'laser' to destroy major cities. Austin and Felicity tail Dr. Evil to the moon and foil his evil plans. He escapes into space with Mini-Me and vows to catch Austin Powers someday, somehow. Back in 1999, Austin and Felicity have a run-in with Fat B*stard, who claims he isn't a very happy man. Scott Evil also finds out who his real mother is.

This one's better than the first! I like the addition of Fat B*stard and Mini-Me.

A film that generated smiles and laughter - a silly film not so much of a "carry on" but fun anyway.

The music was good and upbeat, the teenagers thought it was a hoot.

It is a film that I would rent again

TSWSM is a fitting sequel. The performances are great, the style swisshy and the music hip'n'hop. Certainly one Austin Powers flick you don't want to miss. Let's get it on...!
