TINA FEY FOR VICE PRESIDENT!By a customer from Liverpool , 28 Nov 2008
[Highly rated reviewer](3 1/2 stars)
You got to love Tina Fey. Anyone who can pull off an impersonation of Sarah Palin like she did on Saturday Night Live deserves mounts of Kudos. We already knew she was funny, witty and a very talented actress (for proof see Mean Girls/ 30 Rock).
Fey is indeed the reason to watch Baby Mama, she gets the best bits and lines by far ('I really don't like your uterus.'-'Stop saying that!!'), while Amy Poehler's portrayal of the aura reading but otherwise bad news loan mama is run of the mill at best, grating at the the worst.
Baby Mama does not pretend to be anything other than good humoured, kinda feel good, lightweight entertainment- and as such it is just what it says on the baby food tin. Tina plays the career driven, bit prim, well off woman who gets told she in all likelihood cannot have kids. She signs up with Sigourney Weaver (fabulous by the way) for a rent-a-mom, i.e. Amy Poehler receiving lots of money to carry Tina's child. Needless to say, things go a bit awry and see the two very different women clash and come to heads.
No brownie points for guessing any of the plot twists or outcomes, but hey: watch it in the light hearted spirit it is aimed at and you might even enjoy it.
GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT.
SEE THIS IF YOU LIKED
* MEAN GIRLS
* BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE
* SWEET HOME ALABAMA

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideOne of the best and freshest comedies I've seen in a good while! Amy Poehler initially struck me as annoying, but as the film goes by she quickly becomes just absolutely hilarious and portrays a spoiled teenage brat brilliantly!
Tina Fey's character may be similar to that of Liz in 30 Rock, but its adapted well here and with enough differences to make her a different person entirely. You wouldn't see Liz chasing after someone with a coaster for their drinks.
Steve Martin deserves a special mention and could make an entire film with his character in this movie alone!
Four and a half stars from me! I'd give it higher but it takes a little while before Amy Poehler becomes likeable.

Baby MamaBy Prezz (20 reviews) from Preston , 06 Feb 2010I was unsure about renting this title, but was soon pleased.
Very funny, even if abit predictable at times. Well worth the watch.
All the cast are on top form and thats probably as the two main leads worked together on SNL.
Funny all round, one for men and women.

Good fun.....By a customer from Billingshurst , 07 Sep 2009I'm a big fan of Tina Fey and seeing this film, although it's far from great I hope it's the first of many films for her in the future. She plays a 37 year old who has put work before family and is now desperate for a child. Unfortunately she needs a surrogate and is lumbered with a redneck girl to be her carrier. Quite predictable but enjyable.
