Even though we still get the parochial idea of aliens that look like humans with cornish pasties for foreheads, and even though the CGI looks a bit ropey nowadays, this series is a complete joy.
Complex politics; real characters with believable histories, strengths and weaknesses; a genuinely galaxy-spanning story over the five year arc; this program will appeal to those who like their hard sci-fi flavoured with reasonable extrapolations of current trends ? it?s good stuff!
This season is where ancient evil stirs and every society and species feels the movement. Babylon 5 has a pivotal role to play, but there?s a long way to go before Good and Evil show their hands, and (clich? or not) all is not what it seems?
Splendid acting (Peter Jurasik is especially noteworthy), wonderful dialog, wonderful scripts ? check this out!
Season 1's pace was a little slow, but season 2 really kicks off with confidence.
This is not only great SF but also very good drama. Unlike most shows/films nowadays this series is about real characters, the special effects just help to realise this they are not there just for effects sake. Even saying that they are superbly realised and have a style unequalled in film or TV ever since. The whole 5 series of B5 are a roller coaster ride, you really identify and feel for the characters (who have flaws and good points too)By the end of season 5 you feel really sad that its coming to an end. This is high quality SF and drama. You will not see the likes of this ever again.
