(2)Quite Bizarre
By Cato (705 reviews) from Lydbury North , 18 Mar 2013What a strange film this was. Here we have a 31 year old womam pretending to be a 12 year old, getting befriended by a major who thinks she's a girl, and suggesting she goes to his cadet's college where she has to date all the 13-14 year old 'officers'. Would the film have been allowed in these PC times of ours? Billy Wilder's first film bears one resemblance to Some Like It Hot in that there is a common theme of identity change, but this film fails in that there is no real warming to Ginger Rogers in her role as the girl/woman. So out of our time it's unbelievable.- Was this review helpful to you?
