The final part of the Back To The Future trilogy is a rather different film from the first two. Set primarily in 1885 it introduces several new characters and spoofs a new genre; the western.
Of the new characters it is Thomas F Wilson's new addition to the Tannen family; Buford 'Mad Dog' Tannen which works best. He hams it up to great effect as the dumbest of his characters yet. Mary Steenburgen brings believable presence to her role as Clara Clayton; the doc's romantic interest in what is a surprisingly touching sub plot.
However it doesn't all work so well with Michael J Fox and Lea Thompson both contributing truly horrendous oirish accents as Marty's great-great grandparents. Sadly this is about all Thompson, so good in the first two films, gets to do here.
Fox and Christopher Lloyd are old hands at their characters now and both are excellent once again.
The Western setting allows for a different feel to the set pieces and all are well executed, particularly the breathlessly exciting climax.
It's refreshing that Zemeckis and Bob Gale didn't go for what Wayne's World would have called the mega happy ending, instead it's bittersweet but with the promise of further adventures. However the films are best left as a trilogy, and about as consistently good an example of one as cinema can offer.
Carries on where the second one left off, i thought my heart was going to stop beating at one point! Absolute rollercoaster ride of a film!
I like this film, although not as much as the other two in the trilogy, but nevertheless, it is still a great classic. Rent all three and watch them in one go if you can. Great.

Michael J Fox stars as Marty and Seamun McFky in a return to western days. Worth watching very entertaining, the whole family enjoyed it.

my son is now a fan too!
A satisfying end to a fantastic trilogy. The whole family enjoyed it as we rented all three together. Especially nice to see your children get the same kick seeing it for the first time as I did way back then.
The final outing for mcfly rounds off the trilogy perfectly. The effects were state of the art in their day and still look impressive. Great acting, great cast, great script, great fun.
Disappointing capers with the Back to the Future cast.
Yet another enthralling chapter in the time travelling tale, from clever Mr. Speilberg.
I held my breath, but I think three films are sadly all we're going to get, it's lucky then that those three films are so watchable!
What more can I say. It has is all.
Oh, and it also has a spectacularly good "sting in the tail" when all of a sudden, just what you least expected, happens, wonderfully!
In fact I would go so far as to say it is the greatest film sting in the tail of all time. Or even longer.
Watch it all, even if just for the ending!
this is by far my favourite film in the trilogy and really enjoyable classic!
