    Remember Club Hell ?

The heist of the decade has been pulled off on the Narcotics Branch of the Miami PD. Internal Affairs knows there was an inside informer and that's how 180 million dollars of Heroin was stolen. Put on the case are Detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burdett. While they work on the case a woman and her friend witness a murder. The woman, Julie, escapes but her friend Max is murdered before her very eyes.

Bad Boys is a piece of genius. Michael Bay's usual flair for action-packed movies with tons of shooting, slow-mo, and explosions keeps the adrenaline pumping with his first film. Will Smith gives his usual charming tough guy performance while Martin Lawerence does great doing drama instead of comedy. Tea Leoni does incredibly well as the vengeful yet funny Julie and Leoni really gives an incredible performance.

Besides a lot of swearing and action, Bad Boys is quite a good film and felt quite satisfied after watching it.

Love or Hate it, you can't ignore it..

This is the type of film that literally splits opinions straight down the middle: you'll either love the loud, brash, over the top action and wisecracking; or you'll just hate the cliched, MTV style 2 hour long music promo that this film basically is.

I happen to be in the former camp, but only when viewed with a large percentage of taste temporarily deadened by lager.

Michael Bay films are never subtle, and this early effort is no exception - this was like his warm up to the all out assualt on the senses that was Armageddon years later - and as I said, you'll love or loathe it.

My favourite part is the lovely Lisa Boyle's ten second part right at the beginning, playing the carjacker gang's distraction - her legs just go on for ever.. yum yum.

Brain in neutral and it's a blast; half your wits about you and you'll be ridiculing it before you're half an hour in.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence do work well together, and Tea Leoni looks gorgeous, but overall its laden down with too many cliched set pieces and predictably 'look we're talking like black guys and you white guys don't get it' themes are decidedly un-PC. Not very original.

I just enjoyed it and then forgot it - that's probably the film's intention anyway, so I say go with it.

    Big Action Extravaganza

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence make their mark on the Action genre in this big action rip-off of Lethal Weapon and Beverley Hills Cop. The film is paint by numbers as far as plots go but the performances by the two leads help lift this up from the standard flair. Tea Leoni (Duchovny's wife) gives the guys something to oogle and the action sequences are very well Choreographed. A couple of beers and some mates and this film will be good value for money.

Good, but fairly generic cop movie!

Good enjoyable fun, but not a film that will make a lasting impact.

It's got execellent action scenes, car chases, humour, reasonable acting and plot (although there are a few holes), but so do a hundred other movies. The problem is that there's very little to make this film stand out from a very crowded genre.

One thing worth mentioning about 'Bad Boys' is that the 18 rating is totaly unjustified. The drug references may make it 15, but the violence, gore and language is all fairly tame and are probably only worth a 12, and there's no nudity to get excited about. The only bit that upset me was seeing the Cobra get trashed, but there was enough glass-fibre on display to make it obvious that it wasn't a real one. Still it's always quite sad seeing nice cars getting wrecked.

Want to see a fun, action film.....?

Take this film for what it is and you'll love it. Smith and Lawrence compliment each other well and deliver their one-liners with ease.

This film won't change your life but it may make you smile for two hours!

Loud and Dumb, for the easily pleased

Two bickering and pretty young cops, must protect a pretty dim witted female witness from some baddies. Mayhem, car chases and failure to shoot straight ensue. You can guess the ending.
