  • Brutality exposed.

It is bringing people and politics rigth, smack in the face. It has happened numerous times before, and will happen again; in our part of the world, too. Where brutality is being allowed to happen, and then hushed up. I take my hat off to the producers of this film to expose it.

I also thought it was well made, on all fronts.

  • Mans eagerness to rule others.

Australian films tend to be good, gritty and keep involved and this one is as good as it gets. I don't watch movies more than once normally but this is my second time watching this one. It will make you want some quiet time to contemplate mans eagerness to rule others.

  • Good until it gets too uncomfortable

Whilst the film does an excellent job of exposing the events - it gets a little too graphic and uncomfortable, which whilst may be accurate I felt were unnecessary in telling their story.

i found this film in the hidden gems folder, and right enough its exactly what it says on the tin! This is an excellently produced and directed film, with many strong perfomances from its cast, especially from Anthony lapaglia as the old washed up Journalist trying to find out what happened to five of his fellow Australian Journalists. The story is told in flashbacks as Rodger East retraces the steps taken by his fellow Journalists, and what he uncovers is a shocking truth..........

  • A Tender Intelligent Film. Well worth the watch.

Ignore any overly negative comments. This is a tender and intelligent telling of an horrific atrocity, war and then occupation. There are problems with pacing during the second third, which may be difficult for those expecting or used to an high action Hollywood style. Yes you do have to work for it occasionally but is that really a bad thing? The performances are all excellent throughout, there's more than enough information to get those intrigued to go and find more out about the history once the credits have stopped.

  • Yet another political cover up exposed

Part Portuguese subtitles with English. A gripping tale of an Aussie journalist tracking down the fate of five fellow journalists during the Indonesian invasion of East Timor. Set as parallel stories with the journalist retracing the missing journalists steps in a semi documentary style. A part of history the world ignored for 24 years. A credit to the Aussies who made it.
