This 10-part HBO television miniseries focuses on Easy Company, a group of American soldiers in World War II, tracking their experiences from the beginning of boot camp to the end of the war. Anchored by actors Damian Lewis and Ron Livingston, the series gives detailed attention to their experiences as a group, as well as the way that each of them develops individually. Based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's book of real-life accounts, BAND OF BROTHERS was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who worked together on SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Hanks also directed one episode, featuring his son, Colin Hanks.

This series makes for superb viewing. It comes up with the trumps in every area: acting, characterisation, direction, production, cinematography, music, make-up, storyline, sound, props, the whole thing. This is a class production from beginning to end and I thoroughly recommend it. It will be remembered for many years to come as the series that, like 24, changed televsion for ever.
Directed By Tom Hanks, this is often why some people want to watch the series, many of them expecting "Saving Private Ryan 2"
But don't.
After watching such a series, you wonder where did America get such men?
The courage to deal with what they did is often astonishing (as in the jogging scene).
I've admired those who actually faced combat. Anyway, Band of Brothers is superbly done historically correct documentary about E Co, 101st Airborne. It follows the lives (and sometimes deaths) of the men of Easy Co. The mini-series takes the men through most of their combat engagements. The cinematography is outstanding. Spielberg and Hanks really did a great job on this mini-series! There are also some interviews with some of the survivors.
I advise you not to skip DVD 6 as it is full of extras, not just of the series, but of the real stroy.
