ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!

This series makes for superb viewing. It comes up with the trumps in every area: acting, characterisation, direction, production, cinematography, music, make-up, storyline, sound, props, the whole thing. This is a class production from beginning to end and I thoroughly recommend it. By 123babe (2 reviews) , 25 Jan 2013The true story of these brave and courageous men was so inspiring. The concentration camp scenes were very emotional. After the first couple of episodes you really get to know the characters and look forward to the next episode, I enjoyed the bonus DVD in which the surviving soldiers shared their memories. I felt such admiration and gratitude for all of our soldiers, and you can only shed a tear for all of the young lives that were lost because of HItler.- Was this review helpful to you?

Nothing short of intense
By a customer , 07 Jan 2013Definitely one of the best TV series I've ever seen! Even outside of the combat scenes the entire thing is gripping and entertaining. Brilliant acting and personalities of the soldiers. I especially liked how the real soldiers were also shown.- Was this review helpful to you?

Outstanding, Gripping, Pure Brilliance

This time i watched them pretty much back to back and its easily one of the best series ive ever seen. Couldn't stop watching it once i had started! I highly recommend this to anyone, even if you think its not your sort of thing, give it a go because i can promise you will love it!- Was this review helpful to you?

it gives you an understanding view of the men who truly were heroes.
By mrja112 (7 reviews) , 07 Aug 2012I Haven't watched a Tv series as visually brilliant as this ever before the battle scenes are of epic scale and truly do capture the brutalness of second world war and it is a must see!
the quality of the series is only out done by the huge class of great actors and futhermore of how how real the different stages of the war were, BRUTALLY HONEST- Was this review helpful to you?

Incredible series
By a customer , 24 Jun 2012I usually hate war films/series and very relucantly accepted this on loan from my stepmother's brother out of politeness when he insisted I give it a try... a week later I decided to watch it out of boredom on a rainy day, when there was nothing else on tv. What can I say? From the first few minutes I was absolutely engrossed, it's an absolutely outstanding series and now my all-time favourite. I have my own copy on dvd and watch it at least a couple of times a year in one sitting. Thoroughly recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?
