This 10-part HBO television miniseries focuses on Easy Company, a group of American soldiers in World War II, tracking their experiences from the beginning of boot camp to the end of the war. Anchored by actors Damian Lewis and Ron Livingston, the series gives detailed attention to their experiences as a group, as well as the way that each of them develops individually. Based on historian Stephen E. Ambrose's book of real-life accounts, BAND OF BROTHERS was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, who worked together on SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Hanks also directed one episode, featuring his son, Colin Hanks.

This series makes for superb viewing. It comes up with the trumps in every area: acting, characterisation, direction, production, cinematography, music, make-up, storyline, sound, props, the whole thing. This is a class production from beginning to end and I thoroughly recommend it. It will be remembered for many years to come as the series that, like 24, changed televsion for ever.
As a rule, I don't enjoy war films. However, Band of Brothers offers something special and unique. The interviews with the actual heros themselves makes this series, along with the superb casting and acting, a MUST see series. If you are a young person, it certainly makes you think how lucky we are to be young now, and not in 1939.
