I’d normally run a million miles from anything described as ‘Sci-Fi/Fantasy’. Am I the last person in the world never to have seen any of the Star Wars films?

But Jane Fonda camps this film up from the first minute of dialogue. The irony may be laid very thick with a heavy trowel here, but it suits me just fine. I’d forgotten the secret password for the underground rebels ‘Llanfairpwllg…etc’. Can’t imagine where Roger Vadim got that from – maybe it was David Hemmings’ idea.

Of course the DVD gives every schoolboy at heart the opportunity to freeze frame through the infamous opening sequence with Barbarella disrobing, but what little could be exposed is hidden by the Titles. Jane Fonda not only looks gorgeous in this film, she also sounds like the sort of woman you could never say no to :o).

I love movies from this era, but this wasn't worth watching.

I can see that this must have been risque back in the day but its just plain bad; the acting, script, story arch....after 45 minutes I couldnt take anymore

Reviews might say that its campy, which i guess it is, but it doesnt have the charm of other films that people attach that same lable to from the same era.

there were a few interesting visuals but nothing to redeem the film for me.

  • Sci-Fi in Original Sixties Flavour

    Rated - 4.0 stars

This film could only have been made in the sixties, there's an innocence to it despite all it's sexual themes. I love all the costumes encapsulating all the new plastic materials of the era. Jane Fonda looks fantastic in her many outfits and could be the inspiration for sci-fi barbie!

I think it's important be be able to accept this as of its time if your going to enjoy it!

  • Blu ray no better than DVD

If you've seen or got the DVD don't bother. This Blu Ray looks like a straight copy of the DVD and just has stereo sound. The rating is for the movie, which a lighthearted bit of fun.

This really is a very bad film! The plot is sparse and really just an excuse for soft porn.... but hey, watch it anyway, its a bit of a laugh :P

  • classic sci-fi clap trap.

havnt seen this since the seventies, i loved it then and nothing has changed, has anyone ever been sexier than Jane Fonda ?

And what about the opening credits, pure magic.

corny sci-fi effects, lavish costumes and slightly wooden acting make this a classic.
