America's favorite pint-sized (literally) and plastic sweetheart, Barbie, stars in her very first movie. A take on the classic Christmas tale THE NUTCRACKER, this beautiful and inspirational film tells a similar story using extremely life-like CGI animation. Barbie, as both Clara and the Sugarplum Fairy, and her animated co-stars dance beautifully to choreography by the New York City Ballet's Peter Martins and music by the London Symphony Orchestra.

Anyone over the age of six (or male) will find sitting through this animated tale akin to torture, but little girls who dream of being blonde ballerinas will be delighted with this story that is Barbie doll's first movie. Loosely based on the Tchaikovsky ballet, this sweet adventure has Barbie and the Nutcracker on a quest that involves dancing adapted from the New York City Ballet's own choreography. Very cute, though expect all tots who watch it to want their very own ballerina Barbie soon after.
If you think that a Barbie film sounds hideous - think again. As with the other two films in the Barbie series (Swan Lake and Rapunzel) the Nutcracker is stunning. The character of Barbie becomes an inspiration for all children in these films: brave, resourceful, kind. The music in this one (as with the other two) is the original Tchaikovsky. The animation is out of this world. My 3 year old and 6 year old watch all three of these films again and again, and they are great to watch along with them. Forget all your preconceptions about Barbie... get these films.
Not a bad film, the girls absolutely loved it and were prancing round 'doing ballet' after watching it!! As long as they enjoyed it!! A very girlie film.
