Funny girl made good, singer-actress-director Barbra Streisand is so adored that her concert tickets sell for thousands of dollars. The concert which is documented on this video, however, is more special (and hence, expensive) than any other that she has performed. Staged on the last night of the Millennium--December 31, 1999--this concert is the final one of Streisand's glorious career. TIMELESS features the legendary diva singing forty of her songs, from showtunes to "Auld Lang Syne." Barbra gives an impassioned performance, exhibiting her unparalleled voice in all of its strength and beauty. In addition, famous guest stars like Frank Sinatra and Celine Dion pay tribute with some wonderful duets.

Barbra's incomparable voice is pitch perfect throughout this entire DVD. Each notes of each song counts and the overall staging and characters make such brilliant entertainment. There are a couple of the very long notes she layed down in the recording studio she cuts short in the live performances and there's a rather boring tap dancing act which keeps popping up to fill time. That's what the skip button is for!
Her outfits are beautiful, and she looks great for 59. Filmed on December 31 1999 she welcomes in the New Year with her primarily Jewish audience. They paid thousands of pounds for a ticket and I'm sure no one was dissapointed. It's a shame Barbra omitted Guilty (although a clip of her performance of it at a previous concert is shown). With such a rich back catalouge I'm sure no one envies her of the task of choosing 38 tracks from 700 - can't please everyone.
Whether you're a big fan or not, this DVD is sure to provide a really good evening's entertainment. Barbra truely does benchmark what an artist should aim for - Beyonce, J Lo and all the other anonymous karaoke singers who do well for 4 albums move over - Barbra released her 60th album last year and this DVD capture all of the talent that has enabled her to achieve this. *every* home should have one.
