  • Very solid sequel ....

when you thought you'd seen it all out comes another batman classic. concluding from 1989's Batman [the mention of Vicky Vale's in this movie.]

the basic storyline starts off with man named Mister Cobblepot waiting for his wife to have baby the baby is deformed and is named Oswald. Oswald is a little baby boy and will be rejected by society so they send him down the riverbend in basket where he enters the sewers of Gotham and is raised by Emperor penguins who have escaped from the zoo. meanwhile industrialist Max

Schrek [ Christopher Walken - his second turn as the name Max - he played Max Zorin in A View To A Kill] has plans for nuclear power plant for Gotham's energy supplies so he can make lots of money. however, The Mayor of Gotham rejects his idea and so Max is very annoyed. meanwhile the film also chronicles the character Selena Kyle [ Michelle Pfeiffer] Max's secretary who

is very insecure and nervous. Selena 's life is changed forever when she is murdered by man who throws her out the window although her fall is broken she is knocked out only to be revitalized with strange sort of cpr by mystical cats which shows very unusual sequence of her being reborn which seems bit like some sort of voodoo chant or raising the dead sort of stuff. Selena

arrives home that night she's had enough she wrecks her apartment, destroys her cuddly toys and makes her own black skin tight vinal suit and takes on the name Catwoman. Catwoman joins Oswald Cobblepot a.k.a. The Penguin to kill Batman. The Penguin is being helped by Max Schrek too and Penguin is running for Mayor of Gotham.

meanwhile Bruce Wayne starts dating Selena unknown to him that she is one of the villains, Catwoman. this movie really shows some great development of character the only problem is for movie with the triumphant title '' Batman Returns'' this movie dosen't have enough of Batman in it. it's nice to see some clever devices used like sombody taking control of the batmobile who isn't batman + the return of the batplane, the batarang and plus there's some evil clown friends of The Penguin.

Danny DeVito is very very talented and brings an OTT amount of disgusting behaviour and menace to the role of The Penguin while Christopher Walken is very cold and calm and manipulative. Michelle Pfeiffer meanwhile excells in the role of Catwoman and is now the definitive Catwoman. Michael Keaton's return in the role of Batman is okay but not as triumphant as it was in Batman while with director Tim Burton nothing is boring or underdone. this completely OTT but very solid piece of movie making is grand sequel to Batman which should be seen while the best Batman is still Batman Forever this movie is still very, very entertaining.

A strong sequel to the first batman film. Tim Burton at his best. I believe catwoman was one of Pheiffer's (not sure how that's spelt) signature roles and watching after 20 years I can now see why. She and (batman) Michael Keaton act out their dual personalities scarily well. I don't think I'd buy the movie myself as I've seen it a few times now but if you like dark and gothic movies, and have a thing for men and woman in black rubber masks then this could be for you. lol.

The first and only time I watched this film was not long after it was released on TV. I kept wanting to watch it again, but it was only shown a few times more and each time I missed it.

I can't say much about the acting or the graphics etc as it's pretty much an old film.

While the Caped Crusader (Michael Keaton) is relegated to a supporting role in his own film, fans of nasty, dark-edged, less camp Batman of recent years should enjoy this kinky, at times horrific portrayal of the franchise .

Michelle Pfeiffer is great as the mentally broken Catwoman. I have watched this film during my younger years, but watching the character of catwoman through my more mature eyes, I can really see how deep the character is and what a fantastic internal struggle between right and wrong she is going through. She struggles with her duality throughout the film as sometimes she rescues damsels in distress sometimes she teams up with the deformed Penguin (Danny DeVito) in a bid to take over Gotham City.

Devito really does steal the show and does a real “Johnny Depp” in the sense that without seeing the credits, I would not have known that this was the same guy out of Twins . I know the makeup had an awful lot to do with it and all credit to the makeup department but Devito really brings something to the character that I find absolutely terrifying, something that is very surprising when you see what source material the filmmakers had to work with.

Tim Burton's sequel is, in my opinion, the most realised Batman film out there as the director indulges in his fondness for oddball characters and societal misfits, engendering both sympathy and revulsion in portraying his villains. The whole feel of the film is very dark but still keeps hold of just the right amount of the comic-book-esque absurdity that makes Batman fun to watch and pay tribute to the source material, something that the Batman Begins and The The Dark Knight fail to do.

Many parents and traditionalists may find Batman Returns a little too mean-spirited and freak-show-ish, but those in tune with Burton's off-kilter sensibilities will find that it actually has a great deal of heart. Whatever the case, Batman Returns is a very entertaining film and is a must see for any Batman Fan.

  • The (quite literally) Dark Knight Returns!

This is a superb addition to the Batman mythos. It's dark and brutal (just try to watch the Penguin bite a guy's nose off without wincing!) and also remarkably funny, given the dark tone. There's that word again. Get used to it.

Those who enjoyed Tim Burton's previous Batman will find this one a little more downbeat as Batman gets to showcase more of his brutal side, way before it all got silly under Joel Schumacher. You can see why Burton was replaced though, as it's definitely not a family film. Batman is quite the psychotic in this one, more-so even than the re-imagining with Christian Bale. Just as Batman Returns got broodier as a sequel, so did Batman Begins with it's own sequel: The Dark Knight. There's something about both sequels that make them both eminently watchable and supremely enjoyable. There's real character progression in both.

It's watching Batman at his best (at his worst) that actually defines the character. He's never seen in daylight. He doesn't spout silly one-liners while beating seven bells out of bad guys. He's just an unstoppable force of Justice. Justice on the end of his boot.

This is just too weird - the Penguin cannot be taken seriously as an enemy, unlike the insane anarchistic Joker. Max Schreck is boring. Catwoman is extremely strange and we have no idea how cats manage to reanimate her after she falls several storeys out of a building. The Yuletide element is extremely irritating, making it feel like a twisted version of 'The Grinch'. I really didn't like it - a very disappointing sequel to 'Batman' (1989) which was very good.
