King of the New Frontier: James Cameron

    • 16 Dec 2009

Quoting his own screenplay when he won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1997 for Titanic, James Cameron raised his fist in the air and proclaimed himself “King of the World”. It wasn’t a very Canadian thing to do (he was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, 55 years ago) but the odds are shortening on Cameron picking up another statuette this year, for a little flick called Avatar. Dafoe was first choice for Batman's The Joker

    • 28 Oct 2009

Jack Nicholson almost lost out on the role of The Joker in 1989's Batman movie - because Spider-Man star Willem Dafoe was director Tim Burton's first choice. The Shining actor landed the iconic part opposite Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader, but Dafoe admits the movie could have been very different had he agreed to work on the superhero film. The Man of Steel flew into third place ahead of X-Men hero Wolverine, who clawed his way to number four. Iron Man rounds out the top five. Dave Golder, editor of SFX.co.uk,... Read more

Movie bosses end Batman casting rumours

    • 28 Aug 2009

Hollywood bosses have stepped in to silence speculation about the next Batman movie - insisting there isn't even a script yet for the superhero sequel. Rumours about the planned follow-up to The Dark Knight have been plentiful ever since the blockbuster hit cinemas in 2008.
