The presence of the distinguished Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy makes this saccharine-sodden retread of Cocoon worth watching. They play residents of a doomed New York block of flats who find the unlikeliest of allies in the shape of a friendly group of alien space creatures. It's made by Steven Spielberg's production company Amblin, but, sadly, there is little of his magic touch here (even though it's based on one of his scripts for his Amazing Stories TV series), and director Matthew Robbins lets sentimentality run supreme. Nevertheless, Cronyn and Tandy effortlessly rise above it all, and children and soft-hearted adults will be enchanted.

    A Golden Oldie

Ok, I've got a bit of a bias, I first watched this film when I was about 8 and it always stuck in my mind. Basically the film is about cute little Spaceships helping out a defenceless old couple who are trying desperately to keep a hold of their cafe. The film manages encompass elements of romance, lots of comedy, and deals with violence, and demensia too. For me this film just has a bit of everything and think it should be something everyone has watched at least once. If you liked ET or Flight of the Navigator then you're bound to like this film. I'd say watch it, even if you're just a little bit curious! Go on, you know you want to! :D
