This is a great season of this show ... my only pointer is don't get disk 6 unless you like deleted scenes as that is all that disk 6 contains.
BSG series 2 is brilliant, especially as you don't have to be submitted to the atmosphere-ruining ad breaks.
Just don't bother with the last disc of the set - just low-quality outtakes in 4:3 format.
This series has really raised the bar for television sci-fi and drama to a new level. The first series of Ron Moore (formerly of Start Trek: The Next Generation) and David Eick's re-interpretation of Glen Larson's classic was some of the most phenomenaly engaging television i've ever watched. This series is even better.
Beginning where the first series left off (with possibly the most shocking cliff hanger since JR got shot on Dallas), the series is a rollercoaster. I haven't seen the last four episodes yet, just a word of warning - don't start watching this too late or you'll find yourself still awake when the birds start singing.
The original love for the characters from the origin and the first season is still very strong.
A much watch for any fx or SF fans.
Just as good as the first series. A must rent for anyone who liked that. Looking forward to the release of the third already.

This series just gets better and better. It is one of the most engaging SciFi programmes to date and keeps you gripped constantly. The storys continue to engage you and the cast has proved that this adaption is indeed better than the first, (once getting over that Starbuck is a girl and that Boomer is a Cylon). I watched the first series again the other day and it doesn't waver in its addiction.
I honestly believe I speak for most viewers when I say that I'm thoroughly enjoying this new series as much (if not more!) as the first. If anything, I often wonder how the producers have managed to maintain the high standard of acting, special effects and complex story telling. Given that this is a second take on a highly regarded TV series from the 80's, most people might tend to criticise unnecessarily and not give it fair dues - instead, I (for one) regard this 'retake' as potentially far better than the original!
As with the first series, the episodes are well connected yet maintain the ability to stand out on their own, are often adult themed but still contain enough action and fun for kids (love the way they have substituted the F word for another yet still capture the severity of it!), and, most importantly, have incredibly diverse content. Whilst one expects regular shoot-em-ups with an alien enemy in a sci-fi series, I think that the internal fighting, political shenanigans, deceit and intrigue angles are a welcome addition.
Lastly, the special effects are great and should hold up for several years to come, I believe.
If you enjoy space/sci-fiction movies but also good drama, occasional comedy and solid special effects thrown in, give it a go!
Quite literally, something for everyone!
I loved the mini series, then devoured the first series. But this one tugs the rug out from beneath the viewer's feet. Absolutely stunning twists and turns. The second episode on disk 5 is all the more incredible when, lost in the plot, you stop to consider just how ridiculous is could all have been if handled by a lesser cast and crew. It blows you away. Even my girlfriend, who is no where as geeky and into scifi as me, repeatedly gets lost in this series when I'm watching it. It just sucks you in. It's the sci-fi that appeals to people who don't like sci-fi. It's one of the best dramas on TV. It just happens to take place on a space ship.
Just simply fantastic - the pacing, the storylines, the way the story arcs interweave, the scripts, the acting, the effects, the balance of gritty realism and scifi, the originality, the surprises, the way it takes multiple perspectives, the muted sound during the dogfights, i could go on and on! I NEED season 3 NOW!!!!
The series just gets better. Classic tense story lines with excellent acting supported by classic scripts and brilliant editing.
A must see!
Season 1 lacked tension but promised a lot, here with season 2 you can really see that the actors have found their characters and the writers have really developed a storyline to trounce the original series. Well worth watching.
