A beautifully-observed story of the difficulties of loving and creating family across moral and cultural divides. A lovely central performance by José Luis Garcia Perez carries the whole film lightly and gracefully along; all the support is great, as is always the case in Spanish films. It's a character-driven piece, so not the most hard-hitting plot, but its got a few nice turns, and develops well. Also, an unusual outing for the gay 'bear' subculture, a refreshing change from the perfect California-sleek youths who populate almost all gay films. The straightforward portrayal of sexual scenes will shock some, but the portrayal of drug use unsettled me more. Still, a most rewarding 95 mins
