I musn't have read reviews properly, but I didn't realise the film was in Spanish - which turned out to be a pleasent surprise. Since the death of Franco Spanish cinema - spearheaded by Almodovar and Luna - has pushed the liberal way in which Spain is portrayed to the rest of the world. In the first few minutes of this film that is what seems to be going on .... but then it turns into an engaging narrative about relationships, friendship and family. Fantastic performances from the boy and male protagonist. A must see if this is your genre of choice!!
