    [Highly rated reviewer]

I'm not quite sure what I expected when I rented this film, given that it's basically a re-telling of Beauty and the Best set in modern times, but I just found the whole film rather slow and very boring. While the story unfolded pretty quick, it seemed that it took a long time for anything to happen, which is odd considering that the film is only 80 mins long! This is just another predictable teen romance film, and frankly there are far better ones out there to watch.

A film for young people more than anything. I thought the plot was weak and the film overall was quite boring.

  • Worth Watching

It struck me as a re-work of a story I've seen covered before, but nevertheless a very entertaining film. A moralistic tale of what happens when you get too big for your boots; BE WARNED! Alex Pettyfer has grown up a bit since the last film I saw him in (Stormbreaker), but he carries a lead role well. Looking forward to his future efforts.

  • So-so film teaching a moral lesson about judging people for their looks...

This film is ok.....It's really just a moral lesson about judging people for their looks. The good looking popular High School student Alex Pettyfer crosses the High School witch Mary-Kate Olson and she places a spell on him, making him ugly and giving him a year to find someone who loves him for who he is and thus breaking the spell....enter fellow student Vanessa Hudgens. Watch out for the small role Dakota Johnson has (the daughter of 'Miami Vice' Don Johnson). Pettyfer's blind tutor really steals the entire film from the rest of the cast and Peter Krause is great as a career and looks obsessed father who isn't capable of loving his son and attending to his needs.
