    [Highly rated reviewer]

I've watched many celtic documentaries, particularly on scotland, any many were disappointing, but not this one. it follows scotland's development from iron age era when it was not in fact 'scotland' at all right through to middle ages (roughly). having done a celtic degree i always like to pick out where these documentaries are wrong but they seem to know their stuff in this one, and there was also plenty that i didn't know, which was great. they keep the momentum up enough that you don't get bored, but slow enough that you can take the time to process and appreciate it. i was pleasantly impressed considering the number of crap documentaries on this subject area that are out there. so if you are interested in scotland or the picts, or even the general era i'd say its worth a watch
