makes you realise how crule people can be
By a customer from scotland , 14 Mar 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
im not the type of person who likes to watch true stoty's and chick flicks but i liked this story. it opened my eyes and made me realise how lucky i am not to have violent perents. i dont know how people could treat there children the way that the mother in the film treats hers.- Was this review helpful to you?

(4)Beautiful and tragic
By chaz83uk (41 reviews) from Birmingham , 27 Sep 2005The amazing performances and shocking storyline make this one of the saddest movies I've ever seen. You see the film through the eyes of a young girl, first losing her father and then enduring brutal abuse by her grieving mother. She befriends the local 'coloured lady' despite warnings to stay away. I cried most of the way through. Ellen Barkin and Tina Majorino are exceptional in this film. If you're after a chick flick tear jerker, look no further.- Was this review helpful to you?

wow! get the tissues!
By abbie from northampton, england. , 18 Aug 2005this film is amazing. no cliches, no predictable 'happy ending' you are only left hoping that the ending is a happy one. there is no way you can get through this film without the kleenex-probably best to watch alone as you cry so much it's quite unattractive!!- Was this review helpful to you?
