  • Director Tim Matheson - who also appears in a minor role - [...] does a nice job of infusing the proceedings with a refreshingly straight forward sense of style

  • A […] delight, a B movie that zips along nicely enough to thrill you with solid action sequences. "Colombia" has the flair of a rough 80s actioner

    Hoorah! Go Seals!

Well after the second film and the bad reviews this one got i wasn't expecting much, but i gave it a go because WWE make good action movies and because i am a big fan of the first. I'm glad i did because i really enjoyed it.Now this isn't as good as the first film, but it is definately so much better than the second. It's not boring and lame, cheesy, cheap looking or too flashy for it's own good. Columbia looks well made and the actors looked quite authentic from what i've seen in the past from watching other cinema quality films and documentaries. They looked like they knew what they were doing instead of looking completely out of their depths like some actors do in a lot of straight to dvd films. The editing was good and kept the flow. There were no confusing scenes as it was well put together and this made it easy to watch. The film made sense. This might sound silly but with some straight to dvd films they are a mess narratively speaking. The acting was good from largely unknowns and Keith DAVID is back as Commander Scott Boytano and i'm glad he was in this one aswell,as he is a decent actor and adds to the film. It's not perfect and i do have a few gripes namely the beginning could have been better though it looked a bit naff in places, the close up on one of the seals parachuting into water looked dodgy and the music near the end when the LT. puts manure in the car just wasn't right. It didn't fit. Like i said these were my only gripes. The knife fight towards the end of the movie was well done and both actors did a great job of it.I think MATHESON the director, directed it very well.Definately a lot better than the second one. Watching this would not be a waste of your time. It felt a bit like a cross between 24,The Unit and Navy Seals the movie! It's not the most original script and there isn't much emotion to it but it's enjoyable and action packed. It hasn't the same feel as the first movie but it does do what it says on the tin! It could also stand on it's own. A good effort and well worth a watch. The picture quality was very good for a dvd aswell and the extras were strong for a straight to dvd film too. Happy watching.
