Depp is excellent as Sam, demonstrating another side and some of the traits that later come out again in Jack Sparrow. But Masterson is good too and the overall film is very watchable.
Nothing amazing, but a nice movie feeling that kind of washes over you and well worth renting. Nice ending :)
