This film should definately not be a 12!

It was way too gory and violent. From the very first scene it was just disgusting. I hated every moment of it and only stayed to watch it because we had paid to watch it at the cinema.

  • An Anglo-Saxon story

An ancient Anglo-Saxon story told in modern graphics. It displays the values, beliefs and lifestyle of the Anglo-Saxon people of strength against overwhelming odds and fame and riches in return. One of the first stories of English Literature repeated through time. An educational film and also a romantically inspiring story of a time when men where men.

  • Poor Grendel

I quite enjoyed this but don't like the animation technique ... you get actors to act and then CGI them? I suppose it saves on building sets and finding locations. Possibly it makes the monsters/fantasy elements easier to blend in.

Animated humans still look plastic and seem to move in an unrealistic way, but nevertheless I almost forgot a couple of times that it was animated, mostly it was horriby obvious. I'd rather have some old-fashioned animation.

If this is heroic man then you can keep him; coarse, grubby selfish, violent. I felt sorry for Grendel, and quite admired his mother (that was a far-seeing woman, she'd make a great chess player).

Oh, but the dragon was amazing!

I loved this film, but I don't really understand the director's decision to go with photo-realistic animation though. Why not just film it?

I loved this film, the people who hated it just didn't give it time to get good, those people are missing out.
