Musically this title is outstanding. Vesselina Kasarova sings her role beautifullly, and Paul Groves and Willard White are also excellent. Berlioz is a wonderful orchestrator and the opera is full of delightful music. The one set production is very imaginative at times, for example the descent to hell is very effective, at others it is totally irrelevant, and in the love duet seems weirdly meaningless and horrible distracting. Technically the DVD is very good and well worth watching for the music, but be prepared to close you eyes at times.
