    Probably Eric Robert's Best Film...

..Which might not be saying much. However for fans of martial arts, this is a must see of the genre. A simple storyline, a group of misfits are pulled together as a team to represent America in competition. The men find honour, pride, and friendship. The fighting sequences, although a little far-fetched, are excellent.

    Not the best.

I only really took out this DVD because I remember seeing the film when I was about 9 years old. There is nothing special about it, a group of Taikwando fighters are taken from the USA and Korea to battle, and the plot is linear and predictable. However it is quite amusing in places, and has a character in that is obviously who Champ from Anchorman is based on.

    Love the title

I watched this film a few years ago and still enjoyed it second time around. Good film for kids too.

    Tales of Power!

Best of the Best 3 and 4 are good follow ups to the first two films.I only found out about films 3 and 4 after i bought the first two on DVD a few weeks ago.I originally saw the first two films on VHS and both films all though a little dated now and not quite as good still deliver. They benefit from being on DVD.I'm glad that i rented 3 and 4.Although not as good as the first two.Number 1 is definately the best, 3 and 4 are still worth watching and good entertainment. Phillip Rhee who plays Tommy Lee in all four films does a very good job of directing both films considering his inexperience and the lower budgets he had to work with. They are a lot better than some of the latest martial arts/action films being released at the moment. They are well rounded films although not completely original. The action is good if a little over staged.Rhee is too good and shows some of the other actors up.He is very talented. It's a shame he's not gone on to be a bigger star. Why they called them best of the best though is beyond me. Although we still have the same character from the first too, these films could have easily been another franchise as they could stand alone.I guess the people behind the first two films thought they could use the popularity of the title and ride on the success of the others but on a cheaper budget. They didn't need to as i think Rhee deserves credit for his directing skills.Although the later films aren't perfect they are still worthy sequels, shame Eric Roberts didn't join in as well. Well worth watching. The first film does deserve a four star rating though while the others get a three.

Joint best Martial Arts film EVER.

In my opinion only a handfull of other martial arts films rate close to this. Along with Van Dammes Bloodsport, Kickboxer,Awol and also the fantastic King of Kickboxers. The fight scenes are brilliant. But the fight in the bar is still the best to this day.

THIS IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!

This film is a cheesy 80's martial arts action flick! If you like Van Damme movies or films like Road House then this is for you. The story is about the USA mixed martial arts team taking on the world champions of Korea. The story isn't important as it is all about the action! GO WATCH THIS FILM FOR A FUN NIGHT IN!

    Best Of The Best

Quite an enjoyable film, the storyline and acting is o.k., but the fight scenes are really what makes this film. Not as good in my opinion as Best Of The Best 2, but still good viewing for martial arts fans.

A nostalgia trip gone horribly wrong...

What to say about this movie? Very little good, that's for sure.

I took the plunge and rented 'Best of the Best' as I remember enjoying it back in the day, when I was probably too young to be watching a 15 rated movie. Sadly, like so many movies I've watched for nostalgic reasons, it's a bit of a let down. The plot is hackneyed and cliched, the acting is wodden, and there's not even that much martial arts action! What action there is is pretty unspectacular by today's standard, although the final bout between the top US and Korean fighters was enjoyable and pretty well done.

The disc itself is also technically poor - maybe what you'd expect from a budget label release, but both the sound and picture quality are well below par.

Sadly, it's not even 'Best of the Worst', let alone 'Best of the Best'.
