Most helpful review The Essential Claude Chabrol - Vol.1

  • An OK film

    [Highly rated reviewer]

It flows well enough but it feels like a 'made for TV' film in its editing and dialogue. Worth a look but it's no French classic.

My latest dip into the Chabrol oeuvre - following on from the much earlier Le boucher. Not a lot really to recommend this one since like the finale, it barely gets out of second gear. Jacques Dutronc looks appropriately gallically sardonic and Anna Mouglalis later seen in Mammuth and Romanzo criminale makes an early appearance before finishing acting school.
