A collection of the videos that accompanied the singles of one of the greatest live bands around. The journey takes you from the early days in the 80?s with the classic Fields of Fire, through to their later offerings of Fragile Thing featuring Eddie Reader, and Perfect World. A collection that captures exactly what the band were about, good old fashioned rock tunes and uplifting music.
I remember seeing these guys at the Glen Pavillion in Dunfermline on their very first show. We all went because we were all fans of 'The Skids', Stuart Adamsons previous band. You can imagine our surprise when they started up, no 'Into The valley' etc, but songs with tiles like 'Wonderland' and 'Chance', two guitarists, and believe it or not a short lived Keyboard player called as I recall Pete Wishart, who later on joined Runrig.
They went on to become one of the biggest bands of the 80's and although their star had waned long before Stuart Adamsons untimely death I always had a soft spot for Big Country. They wrote great songs and had a unique sound, honed and perfected over the years. One of the first bands to use 'E-Bows' extensivly that helped shape their sound to re-create visions of mist shrouded Scottish Moors and Mountains. This DVD collects together almost all of their greatest hits, and although most of the early video's have not aged well, and some are downright incomprehensable, the music is what this is about and that is fabulous!
