    [Highly rated reviewer]

If you hate pomposity, as in the kind that inflates the bulbous arch-US-liberal 'film maker' Michael Moore, then you will love this spoof that Hollywood has done all it could to suppress. But Zucker, and his recruited host of happy actors (Yes: genuine actors!) put their craft to good effect in puncturing the blimp. Laugh your head off in this ironic reprise of Dicken's Christmas Carol, set this time at the 4th of July (AMERICA: HOO-rah!!!) instead of Christmas. The only difference between Michael Moore's movies and this one is the difference between reality and fiction. Moore's 'reality' is fictional, whereas this 'fiction' is real! Read it and weep ... with laughter. Then invite your friends over for a group viewing.

I'm a massive Zucker fan so I decided to ignore all the 1 star 'right wing propaganda' reviews. however, they were mostly right. I very much disliked this film. I have rated it 'good' as I believe it does what it is meant to do, but this does not mean I like it. Do not expect to enjoy this film just because you are a fan of the man's previous works, this is horrible. This film would only appeal to patriotic, right wing Americans and it is NOT parodying them as I had expected. This film may be a comedy, but it's point is serious (as well as being close minded and wrong). Don't bother.

  • Bigoted, racist trash, and where are the jokes?!

    Rated - 0.5 stars

Look at the cast! It MUST be good, right?! Wrong!!!

Don't be fooled by the fact it's directed by the (usually) brilliant David Zucker and stars Leslie Nielsen, Dennis Hopper and Kelsey Grammer. This movie is absolutely terrible, it's shockingly unfunny and unbelievably right-wing.

After a mildly amusing opening 10 minutes, the film descends into a barrage of awful political pot-shots at the American left. By halfway through this film you will be in no doubt that you are just watching cringeworthy right-wing propaganda. I wouldn't actually care about that if the film had some cleverly crafted jokes to back up its political statements, but it doesn't... AT ALL! You can only make the joke about Michael Moore being overweight and self-important once, if you just repeat it again and again it's ceases to be funny, but that's pretty much all this film is! Endless, really bad jokes about Michael Moore.

Some horrible homophobic jokes come across as extremely bigoted, whereas others are just there to support right-wing policies, such as that odious 'Patriot Act'. A classy comparison between left-wing politics and being pro-slavery is also a nice touch.

To draw a comparison with another comedy that satirized American politics and succeeded, Team America. That film ripped on EVERYONE and did it brilliantly - or very crudely, depending on your sense of humour. No political views were left un-mocked, and it actually made you laugh at your own political views, as well as others.

Big Fat Important Movie is just a series of awful 'gags' and right-wing statements. What makes it even more dire is the fact that it never backs up any of its statements, leaving it bereft of any integrity whatsoever.

This film made me cringe, and not in a good way.

Oh yeah, Bill O'Reilly has a cameo in this film ...TWICE! Nuff said.

This film flopped for a reason, it's crap.

    Avoid.

  • Big Fat Bigoted Movie

    Rated - 0.5 stars

Aside from it's bigoted and frankly nasty outlook, the plot itself was dull, confusing, surreal and generally made in such a terrible way that following the onslaught of ridicule and lies was almost impossible.

I found the blatant attack on Micheal Moore to be unnecessarily rude and even cruel. The things implied about Micheal Moore were discrediting and completely ridiculous.

I did not enjoy this film at all. Even without the open HATRED towards Micheal Moore, the film was impossible to follow and basically pointless.

Absolutely terrible. Basically the whole story is a kind of christmas carol where 3 ghosts try to convice (a very poor) michael moore look alike that he should support the war. The part that stands out for utter stupidity, paranoia and somewhat racist was the part that showed that if you don't support the war then we will all be forced to wear burkas and be muslim. A damn shame that this was the last Leslie Neilsen film that i saw before he died. Left a very bitter taste indeed. However if you are a Tea party member or vote BNP then you will probably love this.

It was a dull, agenda-like film. I cannot believe how boring it was. I am no longer a fan and will never watch again a movie by Zucker or Nielsen.
