love it or hate it...
By a customer from Newcastle upon Tyne , 09 Jan 2010[Highly rated reviewer]
I loved this film and laughed a lot watching it, though I understand, even in Japan, lots of people hated it because of somewhat controversial ending. I personally didn't mind the silliness. Who said all the films must have big ending?
If you are not familiar with Japanese way of life, this film might not be for you. You could miss out a lot by not understanding subtle nuances.- Was this review helpful to you?

Monster Madness
By tuffles (1 review) from Welwyn Garden City , 09 Dec 2011If you like crazy Japanese monster films you will love this.
It is a little bit of a sad story, the hero isn't your usual hero. In fact he isn't that popular with the locals.
Strange ending but well worth watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

A fantastic hero-monster film
By a customer from On the beach in the UK , 26 Jun 2010I loved this film. It was engaging, interesting and fantastic ( i mean that in the full of fantasy sense of the concept not 'woah that's fantastic' )
There are many levels to the film and you will certainly turn off your dvd player with this film playing in your head, trying to work it out.
For me, it discusses explicitly the demise of traditional japanese culture but that is the under tone. The overtone is much more fantastic!
It has humour, ridiculous CGI characters and a massive WTF ending that rivals the hyperreal psychosis of 'Fight Club'. All the ingredients of a dish you will chew on for days to come. The mark of a great movie.
Yeah it is slow and silly at times but this is all part of the process. To think that one man wrote, acted and directed adds to the feat of such a wonderfully colourful and entertaining experience.
I will never forget this film.- Was this review helpful to you?

ummm...
By a customer from Brighton , 14 Jan 2010A very strange, quite sad, quiet film, with the strangest ending I've ever seen. A shame as the idea had such promise- Was this review helpful to you?
