I was forced to watch this!

It's true. My girlfriend and her family subjected me to this one evening. I was sceptical at first, however, I ended up loving every minute. The frustrations of the long suffering chef and his brother as they tried to keep their restaurant from going under doesn't sound like much of a story but there's so much more to it than that. Watch and enjoy!

    Italian, funny, endearing, eccentricity

If you are a food lover and love the passion that a chef puts into his food, love foreign eccentricities and especially italian influenced music - this film is a must. Have watched it 4 times now and forcing my partner (himself a passionate chef) to watch it. The plot: 2 brothers trying to make their restaurant work - one who is businesslike and wanting desperately to make ends meet - the other not willing to compromise the way food should be prepared, cooked and served - hit on a idea to have a last attempt, put all their hopes into a Big Night. The way he chops the food in the kitchen, carefully throwing his tie over his shoulder, is sheer choregraphy - absolutely delightfuly to watch. Funny, sad, moving. The music is superb. Love it all. One of my all time favorites.

    Big Night

Very atmospheric and engaging from the start. Seemingly simple story evolves into different angles and complexities really well. All the performances are understated and very watchable. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Slow moving but good

I rented this because of Tony Shalhoub, to see what his acting is like when not playing the fantastic Adrian Monk. The acting was fantastic, more real than hollywood, but the story was a little uneventful and slow. The strength of character helped to compensate for that making it well worth watching, but only if you already like this sort of thing, I think most people will find it boring.

    Big Night

Fantastic! Unusual, great acting, charming, sad and funny. A story of a failed business adventure. Shows love for Italian food, small characters. One of the best films I have seen this year.

    Delicious and light

This is a nice time pass movie. It is something different in terms of backdrop-food and restaurant.I personally feel ending is not so satisfactory but in terms of depth,it could satisfy some people. It is about two brothers migrated from Italy and set up a restaurant but failing in its business and also in their personal relationship. One night could change their business and fate and so its Big night

    See it!

A beautiful film that deals with both external and internal issues relating to the family in trouble. Wonderful and layered performances from the cast, particularly Stanley Tucci. A really well rounded carefully crafted film. Wish there were more like it!
