An uneven first series... but series 2 rocks!
By rpj (15 reviews) from Poole , 18 Aug 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
A great release for this surreal sketch series. Series 1 is extremely uneven (show 5 is particularly weak), but there is some classic material scattered throughout, along with a wealth of unused material which should have been included in the actual programmes! The team really hit their stride, however, in series 2. The commentaries are also highly enjoyable.
I was only gonna give series one 3 stars, but some of the unused material included as a bonus is so good it bumps it up to 4 stars. The second run gets a no-nonsense 5 from me, as does the 2 disc package overall. If you like your humour a bit on the surreal side, or want to see what Simon Pegg, Catherine Tate and Tracy Ann-Oberman used to do, then this is highly recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

Big Fun
By Anne67 (37 reviews) from Edinburgh , 20 Sep 2010Series 1 excellent - very funny gags galore - Brian Martin scene and the Show-jumpers both particular favourites.
Didn't find the 2nd series half as clever or funny and missed the original actors (relieved to still see Simon Pegg).
If you like the Fast Show style of comedy, worth a look certainly.- Was this review helpful to you?

Big Train=Big Laughs
By bps182 (3 reviews) from Clacton-on-Sea , 02 Jul 2009With some of Britians top comedians, Simon Pegg (Spaced), Kevin Eldon (Hyperspace) and Catherine Tate (Dr. Who). This two season BBC production its full of laughs from the outset and it is clear how actors such as Simon Pegg has got to the heights he has achieved within his career.
Both programmes are designed within the sketch show format making the gags and laughs thick and fast.
If you enjoy top British comedy then you will 100% enjoy both of these seasons.- Was this review helpful to you?

Very disappointing
By LJKA (14 reviews) from Manchester , 07 Jun 2009I loved father ted and black books so, considering the same pair were behind the writing of this as father ted, i had high expectations. i also loved spaced so the casting in this furthered these expectations. i was, however, really disappointed.
i only saw series one as i dont want to watch series two as i was so disappointed. in each episode only one or two sketches is funny; in fairness, the funny sketches are usually brilliant but i do not think it is consistently funny enough and there are plenty more shows which will make you laugh more often and as hard.- Was this review helpful to you?
