A pretty even documentary, that never sways to much to one side or another.

The maker has a good point on performance enhancing aids such as cortosone injections and vision enhancement.

Also who would ahve thought Carl Lewis failed a drug test!

Quite possibly one of the only unbiased documentaries I've watched, this presents the facts and lets you make your own mind up. A must-see for anyone interested in performance enhancing drugs in sports.

Not the documentary that you would expect as Bell explores the ethical and logical arguments surrounding the use of steroids and other artificial enhancements in American society and their relationship with American sports. Presents some interesting comparisons e.g. an athlete who creates a high altitude environment gets the same benefits as an athlete injecting a particular drug. Is there a right or wrong response to that question? Bigger, Stronger, Faster doesn’t exactly present a case for using drugs to get an edge on a rival, instead preferring to challenge your own viewpoint on drug use in sport, particularly with an American circle of reference. Sadly, where the documentary is weak is with its failure to really highlight significantly the impact such drug use has on the individual and their actions/aggression difficulties. This isn’t to say that the film avoids it, it doesn’t. It just feels a bit like a side thought. Overall it’s a different take on the standard argument which makes it interesting viewing even if overall the films lacks the power it could have.
