The amazing comedian Bill Hicks passed away in 1994, but his legend continues to grow. This release shows a turning point in Hicks's development. 'Sane Man' is the first filmed document of a complete Bill Hicks performance, and was shot in 1989 - before Bill recorded his first comedy album. A newly sober Hicks paces the stage like a wild animal, riffing effortlessly on a variety of his favourite topics. Bill's performance is unpredictable, beyond edgy and so focused you have to see it to believe it.

Bill Hicks a true comedy genius tragically lost to cancer at the age of 32 in 1994.....Sorely missed. Articulate, tremendously intelligent, savagely angry, brave, brutally honest, dangerous. This was a guy with a message, not just a stand up comic. The earth is a poorer place without Bill. What would he have made of the world today?
For a genius like Hicks, todays goings on would have been a world of material. Everything he discusses is almost prophetic! It's just a pity that a lot of the material carried on from Sane Man was still part of his act when he died. I guess if he had been accepted more in his time he could have moved on. When he died he was still screaming the same message. Once heard he could have developed into so much more. That aside, he is still the ultimate in stand up. His wit and delivery are second to none, and if you haven't taken the time to appreciate him, do it now, he will change your outlook on life for the better and for ever. This show shows him in an earlier, less polished stage which I actually prefer. He's very hands on with the audience at times and certainly doesn't yield to hecklers. If you get the chance, see his infamous Chicago show to appreciate a master of put-downs. I will never see a comedian in this class again ever. I know that! Order this DVD now! If you can't appreciate him you've obviously been labotomised. Or your trailer doesn't contain a DVD player.
