Your enjoyment of this gimmicky comedy will depend on your feelings about the low-brow comedy of Adam Sandler. He plays an infantile loser who won't be given control of his father's billion dollar business empire unless he agrees to repeat his school education in just 24 weeks. There are similarities with Rodney Dangerfield's Back to School, except that Sandler is among far younger pupils. Exploiting the star's talent for slapstick stupidity, this has some entertaining moments as he clashes with junior classmates and falls for his pretty teacher (Bridgette Wilson). While not in the same league as The Wedding Singer, it's still enjoyably dumb fun, especially for Sandler fans.
Dim and coarse-toned comedy that does not travel well, featuring a performer of slight appeal outside the US, and material that might have sufficed for a funny five minutes.
Childish, rude, stupid, wrong and meaningless are all the reasons why this film is so great. Not Adam Sandler's greatest movie (Happy Gilmore) but still a classic. If you Don't like laughing or showing any sort of emotions then this film isn't for you (freak), but if you do have a shred of humanity in you then you WILL enjoy this little know gem. Blah blah blah. The End
really good film! A bit of a predictable storyline. Bradley Wittford playing a role totally unlike what we are used to to seeing him, as Josh Lyman in 'The West Wing', still very well acted. A very enjoyable film if slightly quirky.
Adam Sandler, the star of Billy Madison and Mr Deeds, has become the latest star to leave his mark on Hollywood Boulevard. The famous hand and foot print ceremony took place outside the legendary Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Sandler has amassed a staggering lifetime US box-office gross of over $1 billion, thanks in no small part to comedy hits such as Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy and Big Daddy. His earlier career had involved four seasons starring on Saturday Night Live. His... Read more
