    [Highly rated reviewer]

Awesome game, one of the best storylines in a game I've ever experienced, better than a lot of movies too.

However, after one playthrough, there's little incentive to play again, especially since you can get the platinum trophy with just the one go.

There is some DLC coming soon, maybe that will give some more replayability.

    Definatley a rent, I wouldn't buy though.

The game is a very intensive experience! Due to so many good reviews i decided to give it a go. I am not a fps type of gamer and this game didn't change my mind. However i couldn't get away from the screen until i finish the game. Being able to have guns and super powers was the key to embrace this fps game. Then came the story line, witch is really cool, sound, and finally, saving the little children gives of the sensation different from anything else that you felt before in a game. One of the downsides of games is when you have to complete that kind of extended/boring missions that you end up dying and starting everything from the beginning again and again... Well, this game saves you from that! what ever you killed, accomplish, once is done you don't have to start over again. But don't think it will be easy! It is challenging... The downsides are... herm! I'm confused... Can't came up with anything, maybe the limited gear, at the same time good enough. But i will not play this game again. Its a unique experience, and is more than a game, its a experience, its a philosophy to be discussed. Peace!

An 'oldie', as far as games go, but very definitely a 'goodie'. Immense fun to play, amusing throughout and superb game play make this one title you should not pass up. If you can get yourself the companion DLC as it adds that extra layer to the game to make it even more enjoyable.

Platinum hunters will be able to get that treasured trophy in one play and if you miss any you have the option of going back to most of the areas you covered by using the bathosphere to get there.

Grab this game, play it, and find RAPTURE!

Well, if you haven't picked up this game, or been living somewhere, like under a rock the past 4 years, you've missed out on alittle gem!

The game is a 1st Person Shooter/Plasmids (rent it you'll fin out)

The graphic are top notch and the story is compelling and moving.

If your a Plat Hunter like me, it's gonna take 30hrs plus. It will require multiple playthroughs, 2+, Don't let this put you off as the gameplay is great.

If your just for the story it's about 8 hrs long and definitely worth renting.

All in all, get this one of you havent already.

Just waiting for Bioshock Infinte to get released!

  • Rapture - a great setting for a lucklustre

Admittedly I have come to this game very late with Bioshock Infinite in the not so distant future but I really don't see what all the fuss was about. Graphics still look pretty good and I'm aware that at the time they were revolutionary. But that's about it really.

The gameplay is just an endless repetition of; go into an area, kill all the maniacs who can do various different things, booby trap all the turrets, cameras and health stations because next time you go into that room all the maniacs will all have respawned, search everything for ammo, health kits and junk and then go to the next room. Big Daddies, rather than providing tense action packed boss battles are just ridiculous lumbering behemoths that eat up your health and ammo until you eventually grenade/anti-armour round them to death , Plasmids are kinda cool but by now skyrim, deus ex and half life 2 have done them all better.

As for story, maybe it picks up later (I've given up on the game thinking I was near the end but discovering that I'm actually about halfway through) but the NPC's are just voices on a radio or people who you watch die beyond a wall of bulletproof glass or end up having to kill in a tedious 'throw bullets and fire at them till they're dead' boss battle.

The atmosphere is very claustrophobic and there's a sense of tension and dread created by creepy noises and crazed wailings of cranked up psycopaths which is very effective but then, unlike dead space there doesn't seem to be any payoff with the actual confrontations. You know that its just a case of having the right type of ammo/plasmid equipped and enough health kits and a few turrets and drones on your side. The result for me was a disturbing but unthrilling experience that I just wanted to end.

There is a lot of art and philiosophy in this game which is very compelling and I would have liked to be able to learn more about Rapture (the real star of the game) as it's a great setting and the concept is worthy of any good sci-fi novel or Terry Gilliam film. I just wish I could do it without having to play through the game, which kind of pushes the whole thing into the background and makes it very optional.
