A very moving film about the horrors of WW1, some of which were new to me, the tunnelers etc. The romance was a vital element, as it showed the power of love in such terrible conditions in the trenches. Love or the thoughts of a girlfriend held many soldiers from breaking in such foul conditions, where death seemed a certain outcome. I was surprised it had 2 parts, and I am even more surprised that there is more to come after series 1...I can't wait. It was well acted, and the sex was not offensive to me, and I thought was a natural under the war conditions.- Was this review helpful to you?

In fact, all the front line scenes were totally believable. The story itself is magniificently portrayed and acted. A must-see film with a bitter-sweet ending.- Was this review helpful to you?

Absolutely stunning
By a customer , 07 Mar 2013I was a bit skeptic mainly because it is a mini series and made mostly for TV viewers. The war scenes compete even blockbuster war movies. The characters are well shaped and the dialogues beautiful. Drama and romance at its best for a fantastic night in.- Was this review helpful to you?
