This documentary taken in context of the period really demonstrates the power of visual propaganda! Even now 60 plus years later I marvelled at the behemoth B29 flying fortress - not only its size but also its future role in changing forever our modern world - carrying out the atomic bombing of Japan.

Be warned there is a scene at the beginning that graphically shows civilian deaths.

  • good but shocking.

Great stuff if you like planes and want to see how a large WW2 bomber was built. Because it's also war propaganda, the first five minutes show several Japanese war atrocities. The racist, celebration-of-death voice-over sound 'over the top' to my ears but then this was almost 70 years ago and there was a war on.

DO NOT LET CHILDREN WATCH THIS

Within 1 minute and 27 seconds you will witness two people being executed at point blank range. Historically the documentary obviously has a place but it is graphic in its content.

Our two sons who love planes and were keen to watch this with their grandad now have had nightmares about what they saw. It is a U rating but should have a clear warning about the content.
