started of as a gripping story of a cop wife beater who thought he could get away with it,but alas two thirds through 5 years had passed and it seems that the producers couldn`t wait to finish the film.- Was this review helpful to you?

By Spellweaver (61 reviews) from Grays , 13 Aug 2008Once again, yet another great True Story. My wife cannot get enough of these, and this one is no exception.
I'm not going to spoil it for others, but if you're into True Stories, this one is a must, not to be missed.- Was this review helpful to you?

Interesting but spoilt slightly by a saccharine ending...
By JJ from Oxford, England , 03 Aug 2005This was an interesting and disturbing movie which dealt well with a difficult topic. There have been a number of 'B'-movies that have tried to tackle the subject of interspousal violence but have often lacked the skill to carry off such a taxing subject. This film showed the husband (ALP) as unremittingly unremorseful- a viewpoint which differs widely from the accepted norm- and also touched delicately on the problems of custody in violent marriages. Overall, it was a well-done, excellently acted piece of cinema that only lacked from a little more in-depth focus on the real issues. The ending was the weakest part of the film (a little cotton-candy in comparison with the darkness found elsewhere) and stands to be greatly improved. However, it did not ruin an otherwise good film. Worth renting.- Was this review helpful to you?
