Classic Blackspoitation
By Richard from London, England , 14 Mar 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
Probably not the deepest cinematic experience i've had but that's hardly the point, This ketchup-coloured-blood-70's-hustling-with-flares fest is a lot of fun....and besides any film that features a severed ear in a bowl of spaghetti gets my vote. Don't take it too seriously and keep in mind that most of the film's merits belong to the superb soundtrack, which comes curtesy of none other than the godfather of marital violence himself, jaaaames brown!- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)Worth watching.
By Corre (10 reviews) from Dalkeith , 31 Oct 2009Fans of Tarrantino shouldnt miss it. Its a kind of missing link in cinema history. It could do with being updated but who knows if it would get a strong enough cast.
If your partner is going to rent some Hugh Grant Brit-romcom then this is one for the men.- Was this review helpful to you?

Entertaining black mafia story
By a customer from Hackney , 27 Mar 2007This is a cross between a mob film (in that it's about the mob) and a blaxploitation film (the music, the clothes, the style etc). A twist on the usual story of a boy's rise to power through the ranks before the power corrupts him and he alienates the friends who helped him get to where he is - the twist being that (you guessed it) the mafiosa is black.
Some good scenes and a well known soundtrack make this fun to watch and the main guy is pretty good at looking good and getting you to sympathise when he's the underdog but hate him when he's the bad guy. Some even more evil characters ensure that you want him to win and over all it's a fairly enjoyable way to pass a couple of hours.- Was this review helpful to you?
