Deadpan Humour
By FrankIV (506 reviews) from Cirencester, England , 23 Apr 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
The whole film is made in the underplayed and understated style of the mockumentary which Chris Langham excels in, although here there are dramatised sections commented on by the characters in documentary style. It works beautifully, and there are some very funny lines and moments. Excellent as Langham is, he is matched by a cast of actors who were new to me, and the whole thing is sustained very well.- Was this review helpful to you?

(23)BLACK HUMOUR
By GAVINFLEMING (16 reviews) from Edinburgh , 28 Mar 2013Offbeat mixture of black comedy, poetry, indie music and family melodrama, this mockumentary attempts to bridge the gap between the far flung fringes of E4/BBC 4 quirky comedy with 'real movie' credibility. Neither as funny or profound as it thinks it is, nevertheless it is worth a watch if you remember Viv Stanshall's 'Sir Henry at Rawlinson End' with fondness.- Was this review helpful to you?

Waste of time
By a customer , 05 Mar 2013Rather pointless film that meanders in a disjointed way and is pretentious tosh. Simon Amstel is particularly irritating and foolish with the most meaningless lines. I thought it might get better as the film drifted on but it did'nt and it was a wasted evening. Only redeaming thing is that is was filmed in an area I'm familiar with so was vaguely interesting from that point.- Was this review helpful to you?

Classic quirky & eccentric British comedy
By MJflix (8 reviews) , 10 Feb 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
Theres no question that only Brits make comedy like this. The film is classically eccentric, weird, odd, witty and quirky all at once with large sections so funny I was on the verge of laughing out loud. The plot is darkly comic and dramatic but with all of its oddball qualities added to by a 3-legged dog, outrageously dysfunctional family and a hysterical therapist thrown into the mix the outcome is a really excellent concoction.- Was this review helpful to you?

Better the second time
By Spiderman62 (3 reviews) , 12 Dec 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Absolutely brilliant. Saw it first at the cinema and enjoyed it but it took a while to work out what was going on. Seeing it a second time on dvd, knowing what was going on, I could appreciate the outstanding performances by all the cast. A haunting story that will stay with you. As sad a film as you will see but with plenty of laughs on the way.- Was this review helpful to you?
