The best Blackadder series
By Marianthi from London, England , 12 Jan 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
'Blackadder' is for me the best British sitcome ever (OK, 'Fawlty Towers' is a very close second!). It's just hilarious and this is the best series. Edmund Blackadder is the manservant of an amazingly stupid Prince George (Hugh Laurie at his very comic best). To me, the episode with Dr Johnson's dictionary (I think it's 'Ink and Incapability') and the dream Edmund has while re-writing is one of the funniest moments in TV history. Highly recommendinatious!- Was this review helpful to you?

(44)My Kingdom for a Laugh
By AuntySocialite (61 reviews) from Llareggub, Cymru , 20 Dec 2012I can't remember the last comedy I watched that had me crying with laughter... this is just British at its very best. Performances superb, too, with the ever-resourceful Blackadder (a sublime Atkinson) sandwiched between his amoebic dogsbody and the flea-brained Prince Regent (Hugh Laurie back when he was funny). There are also wonderful touches that anyone au fait with the 18th century will catch, such as the playbill credits which end 'No Money Return'd'. No one can say 'sod off' quite like Atkinson, and the cat-cum-football is worth the price of rental alone. If you're a bit despondent because you've had a bad day at the office, or suspect that maybe those in charge aren't the brightest in the firmament, Blackadder the Third will definitely cheer you up. Enjoy!- Was this review helpful to you?

A church mouse
By DougieHauser (140 reviews) from the church , 09 Nov 2010'I'm as poor as a church mouse, that's just had an enormous tax bill on the very day his wife ran off with another mouse, taking all the cheese.'
Excellent, but not as good as series 1 and 2 in my opinion.- Was this review helpful to you?
