    [Highly rated reviewer]

Couldn't agree more with Andrew Freudenberg about this one. A waste of Mr Blackmore's talent in favour of Mr Blackmore's wife/girlfriend's narcissistic stage presence and plainly annoying voice. The songs are perfectly executed and incredibly tedious. If she honestly thinks songs of the era they like to portray would have been sung like this, then she really is as deluded as she looks.

Blackadder material aplenty here as the phrase 'Hey Nonny Nonny' screams at you from a brain that can't quite believe you rented this disc - shortly before turning it off and trying to forget seeing that clip of her singing 'Child in Time'! Try to forget.....

...and if you think Blackers in pixie boots and a comedy tache is bad, go see Ian Gillan perform in his pajamas sometime.........

This DVD was amazing. It was a pleasure to watch Blackmore's superb playing and Night's excellant voice. Excellent entertainment.

  • Don't expect Deep Purple.

I think a lot of people will approach this expecting Mr Blackmore to 'Rock Out'! The fact of the matter is that he has made clear that whilst he doesn't rule out a return to rock, for now he's content doing as he is.

Musically inspiring though I would say any singing is predominantly weak, I enjoyed the concert enough to own the dvd. Deep Purple with Blackmore and Lord gone are musically redundant and as such are on the brink of musical oblivion.

Lord and Blackmore have moved on to what they enjoy. Ritchie can still play well and show this in perhaps a larger degree than when with Deep Purple. I wasn't really interested in the singing!

I rented this, like other reviewers, because I liked Deep Purple & Rainbow. I can't say I hated the music on this DVD. It was pleasant enough to listen to but dull to watch. Unfortunately it's neither Rainbow nor Deep Purple and that was the sound I was after so I'll be removing disc 2 from my list.

Not to everybodys liking, but you can't fault the quality of the musisionship here. I'll own up to having bought this dvd and I do find that alot of purple/rainbow/blackmore fans resent what he's doing now but if he's happy and it sells (which it does) then who are we to argue? Pity david coverdale didn't get up to sing soldier of fortune with them, he was there. All in all, very enjoyable if slightly odd. And no, Ritchie doen't trash his axe at the end.
