Going down........By a customer from Eastbourne , 28 Jan 2009
[Highly rated reviewer]Oh dear. At 1 hour 21 minutes this was too long.
Three people stuck in a lift arguing about water and a Sickers. Lots of pointless flashbacks that added nothing to the plot.
This was no better than an episode of The Bill or Casualty without the acting skills.

wouldnt waste my timeBy a customer from london , 02 Jun 2010seems most people agree on the reviews. not a very good film at all. i kind of expected it to be a little bit like phonebooth with the fact they were stuck in one place but this was about the only similarity. poor acting. poor storyline. just boring really.

blackout...i wish i'd blacked out!!!By deb1968 (7 reviews) from Newport , 16 Mar 2010Wot a waste of 1 hr and 21 minutes...should have done my ironing instead, probably wouldn't have yawned so much either. A film that was about nothing really....boring, like watching paint dry!!
Should be a 15rating!!By a customer from London , 11 Mar 2010Really slow and boring film!! Definatly not worth the 18 rating. Only gets bloody at the end and even thats tame!!
Hmm, somehow this just didn't quite workBy desmondsdoll (266 reviews) from Stockport , 04 Mar 2010
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideI can't pinpoint exactly why this didn't work because the plotline was good and the acting was okay - but something didn't quite gel at all which is a real shame.
Basically 3 strangers who all live in the same apartment block get trapped between floors inside an empty building that's in the process of being renovated and all other residents seem to have gone away for vacations or to temporarily live elsewhere during the work.
These 3 strangers all have seperate reasons as to why they desperately have to get out of the elevator - we have a quiet hospital doctor who is a widower and is devoted to his little girl (who is staying with a female relative/friend for an extra night because the doctor has something to do), we have an aggressive younger man who appears to have beaten and robbed his partner and is trying to escape and we have a quiet girl. As the clock ticks by, we learn that our initial assumptions are very wrong - this is done via retrospect and we learn that the girl is a hard-working student who lived with her grandmother and a speeding car hit her grandmother.
We also learn that we were very wrong about the younger man - we learn that his grazed knuckles and his girlfriend's grazed back and bruised face weren't a result of wife-beating but the boyfriend had attacked the girl's violent, drunken father and had been stealing in an attempt to get money to help him and his girlfriend to escape from her father's abuse.
The most shocking pre-conception is the softly-spoken, devoted doctor - as the clock ticks towards the time his tiny daughter was due home, he gets increasingly irate - stealing the asthmatic girl's (who's trapped) inhaler and then deliberately smoking in the elevator and taunting her when she struggles to breathe and becoming increasingly unhinged and violent - we finally learn that he has a frighteningly sadistic persona and we learn exactly why he was just so desperate to get home well before his little girl.
All in all, it was a good movie, but if I'm honest, i won't be watching it again on account of something being not quite right - I think it's because the doctor's tone of voice just stayed really gentle and drawled even when you realised what he was really like and it just didn't 'fit'.
There were a couple of good twists in the movie and I really think it would benefit from a re-make, if only to make the doctor seem more menacing as time went on.
Despite me not being overawed by this movie, I DO definitely recommend you give it a go!
Claustrophobic and Tense!By Brighouse1971 (155 reviews) from Brighouse, WY , 25 Feb 2010Though other people who watched this film rated it very low, it was a pleasant surprise for me!
This Indy movie is so claustrophobic and tense with lots of twists and turns, that I merely had time to breath. And the big finale kept my heart pumping like a race horse.
Although it definitely not one of those US american blockbuster Thriller with big stars and bigger explosions and a happy ending. It proofs that even this Italian-Spanish-American production has some good qualities!
I dont want to spoil the plot but its so thrilling and suspense and you got quite surprised who the bad guy really is...and what happens next!
And JOAN OF ARCADIA star Amber Tamblyn was great in this, although not much different from her series role!
YEAH, worth watching....but have to warn you that people with pace makers or faint hearts will keel over immediately!
