Very good well written series. Enjoyed it. The acting as you have come to expect from a British series is very well done with excellent characterization.

  • British TV at its best, not writing with numbers

Great writing, wonderful acting. It is very dark, and if you have a bad case of the blues, then you might want to wait until you feel more positive. Excellent portrayal of the realities of alcoholism without resorting to cliches.

Brit drama at its finest. Excellent performances, notably from Christopher Eccleston and Rebecca Callard. Had me on the edge of my seat throughout.

  • NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED

One of the most compelling tales to come from the BBC in recent times. Involving the the hellish torment of alcoholism combined the squalid world of local politics this is not a movie for the faint hearted. Flashbacks make it difficult to grasp the story at times and perhaps it could have been shortened by about thirty minutes.

  • Great Ensemble Cast, Good Performances

Good performances from everyone involved. I wasn't dissapointed. It felt like watching a rather good Television play with a great ensemble cast. I felt that it perhaps warranted a 4th episode in order to wrap up some threads that weren't resolved in episode 3 very effectively.

But that is a minor complaint. I have watched a lot worse stuff from the BBC.

If you have 3 hours spare, this could be good viewing.
