Wesley Snipes plays the half-mortal, half-vampire who hunts down creatures of the night in this flashy and very violent action adventure based on the popular Marvel Comics character. Aided by gruff-and-tough Kris Kristofferson, he sets out to thwart the evil schemes of fellow vampire Stephen Dorff, whose plans include running a nightclub that will supply humans for his fiendish pals to feed on. This is daft stuff indeed, but Snipes looks great in leather, it's snappily paced and the performances are perfectly tongue in cheek.
"...The battle scenes are pure comic-book derring-do replete with acrobatics borrowed from Hong Kong action thrillers and continual morphing..."
This film simply kicks ass in a way most other action films don't. Blade is super-cool as is his arch-enemy played by Stephen Dorff. There's a level of harsh violence you rarely see in today's money-maximising rating lowering movies (see Terminator 3), and the effects are of a really high quality throughout; there's a great attention to detail and you can see they really did put a lot of effort into this movie. With loads of style and action this has to be one of the premier horror thrillers of all time
