Wesley Snipes plays the half-mortal, half-vampire who hunts down creatures of the night in this flashy and very violent action adventure based on the popular Marvel Comics character. Aided by gruff-and-tough Kris Kristofferson, he sets out to thwart the evil schemes of fellow vampire Stephen Dorff, whose plans include running a nightclub that will supply humans for his fiendish pals to feed on. This is daft stuff indeed, but Snipes looks great in leather, it's snappily paced and the performances are perfectly tongue in cheek.

    Suprisingly Superb

This film simply kicks ass in a way most other action films don't. Blade is super-cool as is his arch-enemy played by Stephen Dorff. There's a level of harsh violence you rarely see in today's money-maximising rating lowering movies (see Terminator 3), and the effects are of a really high quality throughout; there's a great attention to detail and you can see they really did put a lot of effort into this movie. With loads of style and action this has to be one of the premier horror thrillers of all time

    Amazing

Don't usually like sci-fi adventure stuff but this was different & excellent from the start the film begins with a rave at the back of a walk in freezer and the rave fills with blood from the water nozzles above and then Blade appears.

Good casting with Kris Kristofferson & Wesley Snipes as Blade.

Can't wait to see Blade II!

Lee still keen to make James Brown biopic with Snipes

    • 28 Jan 2009

Spike Lee insists his James Brown biopic will get made - even though his star, Wesley Snipes, is facing a three-year prison spell. Snipes, who was convicted of federal income tax evasion last year (08), is free pending an appeal - and he remains director Lee's first choice to play the late soul man. Lee tells MTV News, "Were doing it together. Its going to happen. And the moviemaker insists he'll be using Brown's vocals in the film, rather than ask the Blade star to mimic the singer. Lee adds, Read more
