    [Highly rated reviewer]

This is a touching and moving tale set in the stunning and remote West coast of Scotland. It's a film well-worth watching and is essentially about profound loss and a traumatised man's (Nesbitt) emotional journey to heal himself. It's a slow-moving tale pitched brilliantly and quietly with a presbyterian feel. Nesbitt takes this role seriously and yet his trademark character is still present. It's lovely, lovely, lovely!

What a breath of fresh air! This lovely film is what cinema is all about. Scale, beauty, wonderful uplifting story and something that lives with you. We can all learn something from this, a must see.

Very unusual, magical and moving story with wonderful cinemaphotography.

James Nesbitt and his young co-star are great as the main characters.

    Well worth watching.

Blessed is a film that asks the questions, why do we do the things we do, what shoud our priorities be in life family, work, money, career etc. What happens the the routine is gone, will the most important things still be there.

I liked the acting by james nesbitt, the most difficult parts of the film that had the most emotion were in the early scenes in the film. It showed his guilt, pain, anger. Lillian Woods was brillant in her role also which added to the atmosphere with shades of light shining within the darkness of what life had dealt them

The film showed that its important to be there to support and care for people.

The film was delivered in such a way as to make you stop and think, but also laugh at the strange magical things that happened this helped to being realness to the characters,

    Well worth a watch.

  • Blessed Reviews 2008

Did I miss the plot? Was there really a plot to begin with? This is certainly a film with a difference, but was it necessary to make it? And if so, to whom was it meant for?

The acting is superb but not as good as some of the scenery. Set on an island with a Lighthouse makes the film even more remote than other productions. I couldn't say 'Don't watch it' as I feel that I missed the point. I might re-rent it for a second viewing, and to try to find that which I missed: you see, it's a haunting type of film. I marked it as 'Just OK' but was I being fair?
